São Paulo, August 2026 - Ensuring the operational continuity of data centers has become one of the primary concerns of digital infrastructure. The advancement of artificial intelligence has raised the computational density of environments, increased the demand for power and cooling, and reduced the margin for interruptions in operations that support critical services. This new scenario will be among the main themes of Data Center World Brasil 2026, which will gather experts, operators, and suppliers to discuss how to prepare data centers for an increasingly complex operation.
As servers dedicated to artificial intelligence concentrate greater processing capacity per rack, the need for robust electrical infrastructure, high-efficiency cooling systems, and strategies capable of anticipating risks and reducing the impact of failures also grows. Moving beyond just expanding capacity, the challenge becomes maintaining availability, stability, and response speed in the face of increasingly demanding environments.
This concern is backed by industry indicators. According to the Annual Outage Analysis 2026 by the Uptime Institute, 57% of operators state that their most recent major-impact outage generated losses exceeding US$ 100,000, while one in five recorded losses above US$ 1 million. The survey also points to failures in power systems, UPS, transfer switches, and generators among the main causes of the most severe incidents.
"As data centers begin to operate increasingly intensive artificial intelligence workloads, ensuring operational continuity becomes an even greater challenge. Availability depends on robust infrastructure, but also on planning, monitoring, and response capacity in critical situations. The more digital the economy becomes, the lower the tolerance for interruptions," states Leonardo Benedicto, director of Data Center World Brasil.
Incident response also depends on team readiness. Preparation to respond to incidents has also gained relevance in operational continuity strategies. Documented procedures, crisis simulations, contingency plans, and pre-defined responsibilities help reduce reaction times and prevent localized failures from causing wider-reaching disruptions. In environments that concentrate critical applications and intensive artificial intelligence workloads, response capacity has become just as important as infrastructure redundancy.
Practices to strengthen operational resilience will be highlighted at Data Center World Brasil 2026. Among the panels on the schedule, the case study "Crisis Management in Data Centers" will bring together experts to discuss how operators have been structuring response plans, recovery protocols, and strategies to minimize impacts in the face of power failures, operational incidents, and extreme events.
On October 6th, at 4:00 PM, Fabiano Tatsugawa Duarte, Director of Mission-Critical Infrastructure at Claro Brasil, will present the panel "Operational Continuity in Data Centers: How to Prepare for Failures, Crises, and Extreme Events," addressing practical experiences on prevention, risk management, and service recovery in mission-critical environments.
The first edition of Data Center World Brasil will be held from October 6th to 8th at the São Paulo Expo, concurrently with Futurecom, the premier connectivity and innovation event in Latin America.
