São Paulo, August 2026 - The expansion of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and the digital economy is accelerating a new race for data center investments in Latin America. Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Colombia are expanding infrastructure projects to meet the growth of computational workloads, within a landscape increasingly influenced by energy availability, international connectivity, the regulatory environment, and high-density processing capacity. 

This movement mirrors a global trend. According to Gartner, the data center systems and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) segments lead the growth of technology investments, driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence workloads and high-performance computing. Meanwhile, IDC projects that by 2028, 75% of enterprise AI workloads will run in hybrid environments, combining on-premises data centers, public clouds, and edge computing, which amplifies the need to expand installed capacity.

This scenario will be at the center of the discussions at Data Center World Brasil 2026, which will take place between October 6th and 8th at the São Paulo Expo. The event will gather operators, infrastructure providers, technology vendors, and experts to debate the primary factors guiding the evolution of data centers and the expansion of digital infrastructure in Latin America. 

One of the highlights of the schedule will be the LATAM Leaders Panel, scheduled for October 7th at 4:30 PM, with the theme "Data centers in Latin America: investment, expansion, and architecture decisions." The debate will be moderated by Daniel Correia, Principal Analyst at DatacenterHawk, and will feature Chris Torto, CEO of Ascenty; Hilda Patricia Escobar Rodríguez, from ICREA – International Computer Room Experts Association (Colombia); and Gilson Granzier, CEO of Mendes Holler Engenharia. 

During the panel, the experts will discuss how Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Colombia are structuring their digital infrastructure expansion plans, which factors favor or limit new investments, and how aspects such as energy availability, the regulatory environment, operational costs, and international connectivity influence architecture and deployment decisions for new ventures.

Currently, Brazil accounts for approximately 75% of data center investments in Latin America, maintaining regional leadership, while Mexico, Chile, and Colombia expand their share with new projects aimed at meeting the growing demand for digital services and artificial intelligence applications.

The evolution of AI applications is also transforming the technical requirements of these facilities. High-density racks, advanced cooling systems, more robust electrical infrastructure, and hybrid architectures—which integrate hyperscale, colocation, edge computing, and multicloud environments—have become part of operators' strategies to increase efficiency, availability, and performance.

At the same time, factors such as energy availability, regulatory predictability, sustainability, and international connectivity have gained prominence in investment decisions. These elements directly influence the choice of locations capable of supporting large-scale projects and critical artificial intelligence applications.

The first edition of Data Center World Brasil 2026 will be held concurrently with Futurecom, the premier connectivity, technology, and innovation event in Latin America.
